It's a matter of trust
There was movement at the stadium… the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust that is, with Gil Costa stepping in to the role of Deputy Chair of the Trust after Deakin University VC, Jane Den Hollander, ceded the position due to travel and business demands.
Ms Den Hollander remains a member of the six-person Trust Board, alongside Ms Costa, new-appointed Trust Chair and former Carlton Football Club CEO and Barwon Water Managing Director, Michael Malouf, Leisure Networks CEO, Libby Mears, local lawyer Simon Guthrie and the CEO of the Committee for Geelong, Rebecca Casson.
The Trust, that was formed in 2016 under the Kardinia Park Stadium Act legislated by the Andrews Government, has seen some major reshuffling in recent months. Michael Malouf replaced former Victorian Premier Steve Bracks as the Chair of the Trust in June, after Mr Bracks was appointed Chair of the MCG Trust. Libby Mears took up the role of Chair of the Finance Risk Audit sub Committee, previously held by Mr Malouf, while Simon Guthrie takes Ms Mears' place on that sub Committee.
For Gil Costa, Kardinia Park is close to home.
“For as long as I can remember, our family – and in particular my father – have had an abiding passion for everything Geelong, including Kardinia Park as the home of the Cats,” Ms Costa said.
“I’m honoured to be in a position to continue to build on that legacy.”
