Zeally Bay and Dooley's Ice Cream Scoop Awards
Zeally Bay Sourdough has won a Champion Trophy at the 2017 Australian Food Awards (AFA). The local bread producers tied for the Champion Australian Organic Product, with Zeally Bay Organic Spelt, Buckwheat & Polenta Loaf tying for the title with Bunderra Berkshires' Free-Range Pork Rack.
Apollo Bay’s very own Dooley’s Ice Cream also took home two awards, winning the Champion Dairy Trophy for its unparalleled Passionfruit Ice Cream and for the second year running, the Champion Medium Producer Trophy.
The annual dinner conducted by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) bestowed 14 Champion Trophies to 11 of the best food producers nationwide.
RASV CEO, Mark O’Sullivan, said that this year’s AFA winners were no exception to the home grown excellence seen in previous years.
“It is extremely important for Australians to not only know and see where their food comes from, but to also be proud and celebrate the remarkable achievements of our Australian growers and producers, who create phenomenal produce day in and day out.
“The RASV is committed to creating valuable opportunities for producers through AFA, with benchmarking of products, invaluable judging feedback and market differentiation that comes with AFA’s seal of excellence for medal winners.
“We congratulate all of the 2017 medal and trophy winners and thank our esteemed panel of judges for their contribution to this year’s awards,” said Mr O’Sullivan.
