Gordon Claims Top TAFE Title

It was a big night for The Gordon at the 2017 Victorian Training Awards as our local TAFE cemented its place as a leading vocational education and training (VET) provider by taking out the Large Training Provider of the Year Award.

“This amazing result has been achieved by our staff and teachers’ dedication and steadfast commitment to producing industry-ready graduates. In doing so, our staff and teachers work tirelessly in delivering quality training for our students, industry partners and employers, and provide positive, engaging experiences for all who attend our long-standing, community-focussed institution,” The Gordon CEO, Lisa Line, said.

Gordon student, Louise Nicholas, was also named Vocational Student of the Year on the night. Louise has been recognised for her outstanding achievements in the Diploma of Conservation and Land Management, which she completed in 2016.

After being made redundant and reconsidering her future, Louise decided to enrol at The Gordon. Now, Louise spends her working days as a full-time Leading Hand of a Natural Resource Management Crew at Melbourne Water.

“Not only is this award affirmation of Louise’s hard work, passion and achievements, it also illustrates that behind each student is the support and expertise that both enables, and encourages, students to excel,” Ms Line said.

As an award winner, The Gordon now goes on to represent Victoria at the Australian Training Awards in Canberra on Thursday 23 November 2017.
