Smartwatch charged by body heat

One of the biggest try out queues at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas was for the MATRIX PowerWatch, the world’s first smartwatch that never needs charging. Powered by your body heat, it measures calories burned, activity level and sleep using advanced thermoelectric technology.

It is the only smartwatch to feature a power meter, which displays how much electrical power you are generating, oh… and it tells the time. Unlike today's smartwatches, which need to be recharged every day or two, the MATRIX PowerWatch never needs to be removed from your wrist for charging (keep washing yourself though). The PowerWatch runs off your body heat and, when you take it off, your data is stored in memory and it goes to sleep; put it back on and the watch turns back on right where you left it. It's got a power meter that tells you how much electricity your body heat is producing.

There are two models, the PowerWatch, waterproof to 50 metres and the tough PowerwatchX, waterproof to 200 metres (not sure what you’d be doing down there, but this is one tough mother of a watch). Available at Indiegogo for July delivery from $US139.
